Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in Hendersonville, NC is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I - Inpatient to support the pharmacy team in medication preparation and dispensing under the direction of a pharmacist.

This full-time, night-shift role requires a high school diploma and basic arithmetic, with preference for customer service experience or formal technician training.

Qualifications

• Completes controlled substance documentation and repackages medications per policy.
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner.
• Maintains an organized, error-minimizing work environment and assists with Pyxis questions.

Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I - Inpatient will support the pharmacy staff in medication preparation and dispensing under the direction of a pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations, including but not limited to the following:
  • Utilizes technology to pull medications for accurate dispensing and inventory control
  • Communicates inventory concerns or special needs to the purchasing agent
  • Accurately completes controlled substance documentation
  • Repackages medications compliant with local policy
  • Assists nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions
  • Sterile compounding of intravenous medications
  • Non-sterile compounding of oral medications
• Maintains an organized and effective work environment
• Avoids errors through high attention to detail to prevent undesirable clinical outcomes
• Uses an array of business systems on a stationary computer workstation
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner
• Maintain efficient workflow and timely dispensing of patient medications
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns/questions

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have basic arithmetic skills including but not limited to multiplication, ratios, and percentages.

Preferred

• Some customer service experience
• Training as a pharmacy technician from an educational institution or in a hospital environment preferred.
