Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Float to provide coverage across all Yakima Valley Clinic pharmacy locations in Washington state. Shifts may start as early as 7:30 AM and end as late as 7:00 PM, with drive time and mileage reimbursement.

The role requires a Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Intern license, with priority given to bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates. Travel to surrounding YVFWC sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Pharmacy Technician license (state) or Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred with language-proficiency score if applicable.
  • Strong verbal and listening communication with customer focus.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform admin tasks (phones, filing, faxing, scanning, copying).
  • Team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills; MS Office experience.
  • Experience with at least one pharmacy software system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enters patient data, insurance, allergies, provider details and prescriptions in the system.
  • Fills or dispenses products and delivers to patients.
  • Processes prescription refills and verifies availability.
  • Monitors stock levels and places restock orders with wholesalers.
  • Verifies orders against invoices and applies labels and shelving.
  • Checks expiration dates and processes returns for expired stock.
  • Returns unpicked prescriptions to stock and documents reverse billing.
  • Completes third-party billing and seeks prior authorizations as needed.
  • Performs clinical tasks aligned with TJC/HRSA/YVFWC requirements.

This corporate float pharmacy technician position involves providing coverage across all Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic pharmacy locations in Washington State, with a focus on the Yakima locations. Shifts may begin as early as 7:30 AM and end as late as 7:00 PM. Compensation includes both drive time and mileage reimbursement.

What You’ll Do:
  • Enters patient data in the system including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor and diagnosis. Enters the prescription in the system, selecting the brand, product/drug, and appropriate strength to align with the instructions given by the prescribing Provider
  • Fills or dispenses the product from the pharmacy stock and delivers to patient
  • Processes prescription refills verifying refill availability
  • Maintains awareness of stock level and enters order for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verifies quantity and submits order to the Wholesaler
  • Verifies product orders received with invoice and purchase order. Places a sticker on each item and places on the shelf
  • Monitors and checks expiration dates on drugs in stock and prepares expired stock for return to Wholesaler. Processes credit invoices associated with the returns
  • Returns or discards dispensed prescription to stock if not picked up by patient in 30 days. Enters information in the system for reverse billing
  • Completes third party billing form and contacts Provider if prior authorization is required
  • Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • One year's experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician license for the state of practice or Pharmacy Intern License
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred at a level 9. Employees at all other locations are eligible for bilingual differential if they make the required score on the language proficiency assessment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates with a score of 9 may be eligible for bilingual differential pay
  • The Pharmacist Technician Float and Relief (Per Diem) positions require the ability to travel and have reliable transportation for possible coverage at surrounding Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) sites, as assigned
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning, and copying
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail
  • Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems, including Microsoft Office, is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system and the ability to learn new systems
  • This job will require a pre-employment drug screen, which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment
