Job summary

Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic in Toppenish, WA is seeking a Part Time Pharmacy Assistant for 20 hours per week. The role offers 4-hour afternoon shifts Mon-Fri, with pay $18.75–$22.97 per hour plus bilingual pay for English/Spanish skills.

This position includes 100% employer-paid health insurance (medical, dental, vision, Rx) and telemedicine access. You will handle phones, data entry, dispensing support, stock management, and coordination with Pharmacists to ensure timely, accurate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Pharmacy assistant registration due within 60 days of hire or active intern license.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is required at a high level.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and transfer calls to appropriate staff.
• Enter patient data and billing information in the system.
• Deliver prescriptions and obtain payment and signature.
• Coordinate prescription counseling with the Pharmacist as needed.
• Monitor stock levels and place restock orders.
• Verify orders and label shelves.
• Check expiration dates and manage returns.
• Process refills and prior authorizations as allowed by state.

Join our team as a Part Time Pharmacy Assistant at Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic in Toppenish, WA!

*4 hour shifts, M-F in the afternoon until 6:30 pm

Pharmacy Assistants play a vital role in supporting patient access to medications and pharmacy services at YVFWC. This role provides essential clerical, customer service, and medication support functions to help ensure patients receive accurate, timely, and safe pharmacy services. This position helps ensure smooth pharmacy operations and a positive patient experience.

Position Highlights:

• 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week)
• $18.75-$22.97/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates

What You’ll Do:

• Answers the phone, answers non-professional level inquiries and transfers calls to appropriate staff
• Enters patient data and billing information in the system including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor and diagnosis
• Delivers prescription to the patient verifying correct medication is provided. Collects payment and signature from the patient
• Coordinates prescription counseling by the Pharmacist as needed
• Maintains awareness of stock level and enters order for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verifies quantity and submits order to the Wholesaler
• Verifies product orders received with invoice and purchase order. Places a sticker on each item and places it on the shelf
• Monitors and checks expiration dates on drugs in stock
• Returns or discards dispensed prescription to stock if not picked up by patient. Enters information in the system for reverse billing as allowed by state regulations
• Processes prescription refills verifying refill availability as allowed by state regulations
• Completes third party billing form and contacts Provider if prior authorization as allowed by state regulations
• Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• One year of pharmacy assistant, office, administrative, patient care or customer service experience
• Pharmacy Assistant state registration required within 60 days of hire (or active Pharmacy Intern License)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills required at a level 9
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning and copying
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment
• Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail
• Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems including Microsoft Office preferred
• Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system preferred

This job will require a pre-employment drug screen which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment
