Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Astoria, OR to support a broad range of patient care services within Coastal Family Health Center. Be part of a community health organization serving Washington and Oregon with a comprehensive care model.

The role requires data entry, prescription processing, stock management, and bilingual communication to assist patients. This full-time, non-exempt position offers competitive pay and generous benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year's experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred.
• Pharmacy Technician license or active Pharmacy Intern License.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred at a level 9.
• Pre-employment drug screen after conditional offer.
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform administrative tasks and work in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient data in the system including name, insurance, allergies, doctor, and diagnosis.
• Enter prescriptions in the system, select brand, product/drug, and strength per provider instructions.
• Fill or dispense medications from stock and deliver to patients.
• Process prescription refills and verify availability.
• Monitor stock levels and place restocking orders.
• Verify orders against invoices and apply stickers to items.
• Check expiration dates and return expired stock to wholesaler.
• Process returns or reverse billing for unpicked prescriptions after 30 days.
• Complete third-party billing forms and obtain prior authorizations when required.
• Perform clinical duties in line with TJC, HRSA, and YVFWC requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do:

• Enter patient data in the system, including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor, and diagnosis. Enter the prescription in the system, selecting the brand, product/drug, and appropriate strength to align with the instructions given by the prescribing Provider
• Fill or dispense the product from the pharmacy stock and deliver to the patient
• Process prescription refills, verifying refill availability
• Maintain awareness of stock level and enter orders for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verify quantity and submit order to the Wholesaler
• Verify product orders received with the invoice and purchase order. Place a sticker on each item and place it on the shelf
• Monitor and check expiration dates on drugs in stock and prepare expired stock for return to the Wholesaler. Process credit invoices associated with the returns
• Return or discard dispensed prescriptions to stock if not picked up by the patient in 30 days. Enter information in the system for reverse billing
• Complete the third-party billing form and contact the Provider if prior authorization is required
• Perform clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• One year's experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred
• Pharmacy Technician license or may have an active Pharmacy Intern License
• Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred at a level 9
• This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 9 is achieved
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning, and copying
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail
• Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems, including Microsoft Office, is preferred
• Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system and the ability to learn new systems
• This job will require a pre-employment drug screen, which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment
