To assure that medications and supplies are provided to the customer in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with standard procedures, Joint Commission, State Department of Health and other regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately and efficiently select medications for dispensing.
  • Answer the telephone with appropriate telephone etiquette.
  • Deliver medications and supplies to the proper location in a timely fashion.
  • Compound sterile products using aseptic technique.
  • Maintain proficiency with current departmental system technologies.
  • Perform basic compounding and calculations.
  • Maintain contemporary professional knowledge base.
  • Communicate and coordinate schedule availability with leadership and/or department scheduler.
  • Participate in the evaluation, development, and implementation of process improvement.
  • Perform Automated Dispensing Cabinet duties.
  • Accept feedback graciously with a focus on personal growth and development.
  • Complete mandatory learning, licensing, and other requirements independently, without the intervention of leadership.
  • Communicate with patients, their families, other hospital employees and departments in a positive and professional manner.
  • Individuals may not perform all of these duties, or may perform additional, related duties not listed here.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Previous pharmaceutical or related healthcare experience education preferred.
  • Required Certifications/Licensures: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) National Certification or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) (ExCPT).
  • One of the following is required Certifications/Licensures: Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA), or Licensed as a Pharmacy Intern by the IPLA. If licensed as Pharmacy Intern, you do not need to be nationally certified with PTCB or NHA.
  • National Certification required within 2 years of hire.
