Job summary

Walgreens is seeking a Pharmacy Technician/Apprentice to be at the front lines, delivering patient-centered service and leveraging technology to support pharmacists. This role offers an entry point through an ASHP & Department of Labor recognized apprenticeship, guiding you toward PTCB certification and advancement.

Responsibilities include assisting pharmacists, processing prescriptions in pharmacy systems, handling cash, inventory tasks, and contributing to a positive customer experience.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior Walgreens experience is preferred.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription counting and weighing.
• Good computer skills and basic inventory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision and help with pharmacy duties as per policy.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Provide a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
• Enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions, verify accuracy, and check for interactions.
• Schedule and manage workflow; report prescription errors to the on-duty pharmacist.
• Handle cash and assist customers in locating products; answer non-technical calls.
• Process third-party claims and perform clerical duties as assigned.
• Assist with inventory management and related warehouse activities.
• Support clinical services as needed and coordinate with healthcare providers.
• Maintain relationships with local medical community and ensure department upkeep.
