Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland is seeking a Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory for a part-time position in the Ambulatory Pharmacy. The role supports pharmacists in an outpatient setting, with a day/evening rotation and a schedule from 6:30am to 8:00pm.

A sign-on bonus up to $1,250 is available. You will prepare prescriptions, maintain outpatient inventory, assist with compounding, operate the POS system and provide patient-safe care on a busy, hospital-based pharmacy team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months related experience or completion of Pharmacy Technician Program.
• Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA on hire.
• Active OBOP registration as CPhT/Registered/Technician Trainee required on hire.
• If trainee or registered, upgrade to CPhT within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
• Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
• Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
• Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and OTC items.
• Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
• Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
• Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.

A caregiver in this position works a day/evening rotation from 6:45AM - 8:15PM, with weekend and holiday availability.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
• Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
• In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
• Please note: Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Six months of hospital experience

Physical Requirements:

Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
