Job summary

Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician for a full-time, rotating shift. The role includes 6am–11pm coverage with occasional overnight shifts and every-other-weekend work.

Responsibilities include filling and delivering medications under supervision, maintaining supplies, and ensuring quality assurance within legal requirements. Virginia Tech license required; NHA/PTCB preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (required).
• CPhT license preferred (NHA/PTCB).
• 2 years pharmacy experience preferred.

The Pharmacy Technician performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
