Job summary

Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I for the Outpatient Pharmacy. This 24-hour per week position offers part-time status with rotating shifts (8:15am-5:15pm or 10:45am-7:15pm) and works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

The role requires a Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (CPhT preferred), and at least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience.

Qualifications

• 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience (Required).
• Experience in high-pace/high-volume store with data entry and handling insurance adjudications (Preferred).
• Knowledge of prioritizing workflow and managing inventory.

Responsibilities

• Care delivery and dispensing under supervision of a pharmacist.
• Train new employees and ensure adequate supplies for patient care.
• Triages questions outside scope and escalates as needed.
• Operate pharmacy systems and ensure QA per regulatory requirements.
• Handle pharmacy operations tasks and inventory controls.

Overview: Sentara is hiring a Full-time Pharmacy Technician I for our Outpatient Pharmacy at Sentara Princess Anne in Virginia Beach

Status: Part time (24 hours per week) Mon-Fri- 3 days a week

Shift/Hours: 8:15am-5:15pm or 10:45am-7:15pm

The Pharmacy Technician I performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

• Participates in the training of new employees
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to pharmacy operations
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

Education

• Experience in a high-pace/high-volume store with data entry and handling insurance adjudications (Preferred)
• Familiar with managing inventory, cycle counts, and a good knowledge of handling the pharmacy queues to prioritize workflow (Preferred)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)

Experience
