Technicians support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store. They are often the first point of contact to assist patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience, ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, and help provide safe, accurate prescriptions and caring service that exceeds patient expectations.
Once in role, Technicians are required to complete a rigorous company training program and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to their State’s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager until requirements are met.
Base pay and compensation
Base pay range: $16.00/hr - $25.00/hr
Responsibilities
- Living our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Following pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone; offering immunizations and other services; and solving or escalating patient problems
- Completing basic inventory activities as directed by the pharmacy leadership team, including storage, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and related tasks
- Contributing to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients
- Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs; willing to travel to stores in the market as needed
- Understanding and complying with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety, privacy, and security
- Delivering additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing) where allowed by law and training permits
Immunization support (where permissible)
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support vaccines
- Educate patients about vaccines and direct vaccination questions to the Pharmacist on duty
- Monitor for adverse reactions and report per public health requirements
- Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
Required qualifications
- Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- If no minimum age is specified by the state board, candidate must be at least 16 years old
- If no minimum educational requirement is specified by the state board, candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled
- State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state

Preferred qualifications
- 1-3 years of Pharmacy Technician experience
- Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings
- Willingness to work in the home store and across the market as needed
