Responsibilities
- Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store. Technicians assist patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience and ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly; prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately; and patient service exceeds expectations.
- Operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication.
- Complete rigorous training and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to state guidelines; duties may be restricted until requirements are met.
- Contribute to safe and effective operations, including following workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) and assisting with inventory activities as permitted by law (e.g., putting away deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks).
- Deliver additional patient health care services where allowable by law and training (e.g., immunizations and other services at the register or over the phone).
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; may travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws and CVS policies to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, recordkeeping, and patient privacy and security.
Where permissible, Immunization Support
- Complete licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status where required.
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty.
- Monitor for adverse reactions and report per public health requirements; collect and document patient information as applicable; manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
- Must comply with state board requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy (age, education, licensure/certification).
- If the state does not mandate a minimum age, candidate must be at least 16 years old.
- If the state does not mandate a minimum educational requirement, candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or equivalent program.
- State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Essential Functions

- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
- Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks; pivot between tasks to meet patient and business needs; confirm prescription information and labeling accuracy for patient safety.
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: proactively help others with a friendly demeanor; recognize and respond to patients’ reactions.
- Communication Skills: effective verbal and written communication; active listening.
- Mathematical Reasoning: use math to determine days supply, number of tablets, and quantities needed.
- Problem Resolution: identify challenging interactions and determine best course of action.
- Physical Demands: be mobile, lift and move items, reach, and perform tasks requiring dexterity; close visual acuity for computer work and small parts; occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs.
- Express or exchange ideas clearly; receive detailed information orally.
- Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations as needed.

- Time Type: Part time
- Pay Range: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
This pay range represents base compensation for all positions within the job grade. The actual offer depends on factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
