Qualifications

  • Valid California Pharmacy Technician license in good standing required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus four years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Pharmacy Technician

Location: Mariposa County, California; Merced County, California; Monterey County, California; San Benito County, California; Santa Cruz County, California

We have an opportunity to join the Alliance as a Pharmacy Technician in the Pharmacy Department.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Reporting to the Pharmacy Services Supervisor, this position:

  1. Assists the Pharmacy Department with issue resolution and communications requiring specialized pharmacy technical skills related to medication coordination.
  2. Reviews and processes prior authorization requests for physician-administered drugs, including intake, triage, and correspondence, using established criteria.
  3. Ensures accuracy and timely review of member and provider correspondence.
  4. Assists in the implementation and maintenance of pharmacy programs.
ABOUT THE TEAM

Our mission is to improve member health outcomes and pharmacy services quality by enhancing care coordination, medication management, and adherence in collaboration with internal teams and community partners.

We handle pharmacy authorizations, formulary, utilization, and projects.

  • Knowledge of:
    • Medi-Cal, Medicare, and commercial health insurance programs
    • General pharmacy prior authorization process
    • Medical abbreviations and terminology
    • Drug generic and trade names
    • Computerized drug programs and NDC format
  • Ability to:
    • Read, understand, and transcribe pharmaceutical information
    • Read chart notes
    • Problem solve and guide formulary alternatives
    • Identify issues, gather information, and document recommendations
  • Education and Experience:
    • Valid California Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
    • High school diploma or equivalent plus four years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician (or an Associate's degree substituting for one year of experience); or equivalent
OTHER INFORMATION
  • Work environment is hybrid; interviews will be remote via Microsoft Teams.
  • Attendance at quarterly events or meetings may be required.
  • In-office or community presence may be needed depending on business needs.

The full compensation range varies by location, determined by qualifications and other factors.

Pay ranges:

  • Santa Cruz County: $27.08 - $43.33 USD
  • Merced County: $24.64 - $39.43 USD
  • Monterey County: $27.08 - $43.33 USD
