Job Purpose and Summary

At CVS Health, we are focused on transforming health care for our customers and making our company a great place to work. We help people navigate the health care system – and their personal health care – by improving access, lowering costs and being a trusted partner for every meaningful moment of health. Within our Retail locations, we bring this promise to life with heart every day and our Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (i.e., production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care – creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; and demonstrating compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting‑bin inventories as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, and be receptive to feedback.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, travel to stores in the market as needed, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health‑care services such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntary staffing of off‑site clinics where allowable by law and supported by training and certification.
Immunization Responsibilities
  • Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status for vaccine preparation and administration.
  • Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public‑health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information, tracking and documenting each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, licensure, and certification.
  • If the state board does not address a minimum age, must be at least 16 years old.
  • If the state board does not mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high‑school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high‑school or an equivalency program.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
  • Customer service and team orientation: look for ways to help people in a friendly manner; notice and respond to patient reactions appropriately.
  • Communication skills: use verbal and written communication; active listening; ask questions; avoid interruptions.
  • Mathematical reasoning: use math to solve problems such as determining daily supply or number of bottles.
  • Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
  • Physical demands: mobile, upright for extended periods, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, move fingers, adjust precision, stoop, use eyes, lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1‑3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
