Job summary

Community Health Center of Snohomish County is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in processing prescriptions, stocking supplies, and supporting patient assistance programs.

The role requires strong English communication, the ability to work independently and in a team, and experience with pharmacy software. A high school diploma and a certified technician program are expected, with bilingual skills preferred for serving diverse communities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Answer inquiries about non-clinical information, prices and product availability.
• Maintain inventory levels and perform audits of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Record medical histories, bill third party plans, and process overrides or prior authorizations under supervision.
• Create and file patient prescriptions, print profiles and drug information sheets.
• Monitor inventory for recalls or invalids and ensure safe handling of medications.
• Handle patient payments, process deposits and reconcile receipts accurately.
• Reconcile third party insurance claims and assist with patient assistance programs.
• Maintain attendance standards to support daily operations and patient care.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician performs duties that support the pharmacist in delivering pharmacy services. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, duties include but are not limited to the processing of prescription requests stocking, administration of various patient assistance programs and the documentation of third party reimbursements.

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or an employee-based program approved by The Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission.

• Associate’s degree in a related field or in lieu of degree, a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Experience

• Customer service related experience working with the general public (1 year).

Preferred:

• Pharmacy Technician experience, preferably in a community health center pharmacy setting.
• Working with pharmacy specific software programs.
• Working with low income, multi-ethnic populations.

Credentials

• Pharmacy Technician certification with the State of Washington.

Preferred:

• Pharmacy Technician certification (CPht) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Other

• Verified immunity to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), and varicella (chickenpox). Immunity may be demonstrated through vaccination records or titer results. Medical or religious accommodation requests may be reviewed on a case-by‑case basis.

Job Specific Functions/Performance:

1. Responsible for answering inquiries regarding nondiscretionary and non-clinical information on prescriptions, availability and price of products, and general pharmacy information in an efficient and quality manner.
2. Responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and supplies. Performs inventory audits.
3. Under pharmacist supervision, records medical histories, bills third party insurance plans, contacts third party insurance plans for overrides or prior authorizations, generates patient prescription labels, fills prescription orders and releases prescriptions accurately and expeditiously.
4. Files and retrieves pharmacy records, completed prescriptions and enters drug descriptions into pharmacy computer accurately. Prints patient medical profiles, drug information sheets and other reports.
5. Monitors inventory for outdated, recalled or illegitimate pharmaceuticals.
6. Receives patient payments, answers or appropriately refers billing questions and maintains appropriate records of all financial transactions. Prepares daily bank deposit, reconcile receipts (including cash, checks and bankcard transactions) assuring accuracy and timeliness of the deposit and ensuring security under cash management and accounting practices.
7. Files and reconciles third party insurance claims.
8. Assists with the administration of patient assistance programs.
9. Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.
