Job summary

Community Health Center of Snohomish County is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacist in delivering pharmacy services. Under supervision, you will process prescription requests, stock supplies, and assist with patient assistance programs and third-party reimbursements.

Qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent, Washington Pharmacy Technician certification, and one year of customer service experience. Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer inquiries on prescriptions, availability and pricing in a timely, professional manner.
  • Maintain inventory levels and perform audits of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
  • Under pharmacist supervision, process labels, fill prescriptions, bill third-party plans, and handle reimbursements.
  • File and retrieve pharmacy records; document drug information and print patient profiles.
  • Monitor inventory for recalls or illegitimate products.
  • Handle patient payments and reconcile daily banking and cash handling.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician performs duties that support the pharmacist in delivering pharmacy services. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, duties include but are not limited to the processing of prescription requests stocking, administration of various patient assistance programs and the documentation of third party reimbursements.

Education
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or an employee-based program approved by The Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission.
Preferred:
  • Associate's degree in a related field or in lieu of degree, a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
Experience
  • Customer service related experience working with the general public (1 year).
Preferred:
  • Pharmacy Technician experience, preferably in a community health center pharmacy setting.
  • Working with pharmacy specific software programs.
  • Working with low income, multi-ethnic populations.
Credentials
  • Pharmacy Technician certification with the State of Washington.
Preferred:
  • Pharmacy Technician certification (CPht) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Other
  • Verified immunity to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), and varicella (chickenpox). Immunity may be demonstrated through vaccination records or titer results. Medical or religious accommodation requests may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Job Specific Functions/Performance:
  1. Responsible for answering inquiries regarding nondiscretionary and non-clinical information on prescriptions, availability and price of products, and general pharmacy information in an efficient and quality manner.
  2. Responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and supplies. Performs inventory audits.
  3. Under pharmacist supervision, records medical histories, bills third party insurance plans, contacts third party insurance plans for overrides or prior authorizations, generates patient prescription labels, fills prescription orders and releases prescriptions accurately and expeditiously.
  4. Files and retrieves pharmacy records, completed prescriptions and enters drug descriptions into pharmacy computer accurately. Prints patient medical profiles, drug information sheets and other reports.
  5. Monitors inventory for outdated, recalled or illegitimate pharmaceuticals.
  6. Receives patient payments, answers or appropriately refers billing questions and maintains appropriate records of all financial transactions. Prepares daily bank deposit, reconcile receipts (including cash, checks and bankcard transactions) assuring accuracy and timeliness of the deposit and ensuring security under cash management and accounting practices.
  7. Files and reconciles third party insurance claims.
  8. Assists with the administration of patient assistance programs.
  9. Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.
