Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Procures and distributes medication orders per physician or pharmacist request.
• Fills physician orders, medication kits or trays, medication carts, or stock requisitions accurately.
• Prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile products (including chemotherapy and total parenteral nutrition) accurately.
• Pre-packs medications in unit-dose packages.
• Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
• Replenishes medication in emergency crash carts and floor stock areas accurately.
• Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration.
• Restocks medication and IV dispensing areas.
• Completes and documents all assigned medication storage area inspections monthly.
• Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs.
• Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas accurately per established schedule.
• Picks up orders and medications for return from patient care areas during rounds.
• Enters medication orders into pharmacy computer system accurately.
• Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately.
• Generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required.
• Answers the telephone identifying self and department and directs calls to appropriate personnel.

• Keeps pharmacy equipment clean.
• Adheres to departmental, facility, and CCOC Policies and Procedures;
• Complies with all requirements related to risk management, safety, security, fire, and infection control;
• Complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations;
• Performs all duties under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
• Participates in departmental and facility quality improvement activities;
• Collects data, conducts quality monitors, and completes documentation as assigned;
• Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, staff, and Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center administrators;
• Voices concerns and suggestions to appropriate persons in a positive manner;
• Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, visitor, and employee information;

Position Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED required. Passed an examination administered by a national pharmacy technician organization which has been approved by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
