Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque is seeking a Retail Pharmacy Tech Trainee to support pharmacy operations under the supervision of a pharmacist. You will assist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients ranging from newborns to geriatrics, performing calculations, and using hospital information systems.

Qualifications

• Must be 17 years of age or older and eligible to sit for the national technician certification exam within 1 year of hire.
• Registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy prior to start of employment.
• Typing, clerical and science background are desirable.
• Pass the test for and maintain national technician certification as outlined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy within 1 year of employment.
• On-the-job training of 3 months minimum; 12-24 months to become proficient.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of a pharmacist, assists in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients ranging in age from newborns to geriatrics.
• Tasks require accuracy and professional judgment in a hospital pharmacy environment.
• Familiarity with hospital pharmacy information system programs and routine duties.
