Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is hiring a Pharmacy Technician in Training to support inpatient and outpatient medication preparation and distribution. You will train under a licensed pharmacist and progress toward CPHT certification as you contribute to safe, accurate dispensing and efficient service.

The program emphasizes hands-on experience across departments with a structured education path and potential long-term placement within the pharmacy teams.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role requiring completion of a Pharmacy Technician Education Program.
• In-training status with South Dakota Board of Pharmacy registration preferred.
• Certification pathway to PTCB upon program completion or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, input and prepare labels and medication orders.
• Assist with distribution, inventory, and processing of prescriptions.
• Communicate clearly with nursing staff, providers, patients and co-workers.
• Support clerical tasks and pharmacy operations to maintain efficiency.
