Job summary

Avera St Mary’s Hospital is seeking an entry-level Pharmacy Technician in Training to assist in drug preparation, storage and inventory under pharmacist supervision. You will gain hands-on experience in a hospital pharmacy while pursuing certification through Avera’s Education Program.

Upon successful certification, you may be promoted to a Pharmacy Technician. The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, safety, and adherence to CMS/OSHA standards in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pharmacy Technician in Training program completion recommended.
• Certification: Pharmacy Technician Board Certification or approved alternative.
• South Dakota Board of Pharmacy registration within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in drug preparation, storage, and distribution under pharmacist supervision.
• Input and prepare medication orders and prescriptions accurately.
• Participate in billing and inventory procedures to maintain efficient workflow.
• Communicate with nursing staff, physicians, and patients to ensure safe medication delivery.
• Support Pharmacy Technician Education Program activities and documentation.
