Job summary

Mercy Joplin is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Specialist I to join a collaborative hospital team. You will assist pharmacists in advanced medication preparation, compounding, and dispensing within a fast-paced setting.

This role offers growth in sterile compounding, chemotherapy preparation, automation technology, and inventory management, with mentoring from experienced pharmacists and a focus on patient safety.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Active registration with State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, or eligibility by day one.
• At least 1 year of relevant pharmacy experience.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB, or eligibility within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Assisting with advanced sterile and non-sterile compounding, including hazardous medications and chemotherapy preparations.
• Using EPIC and pharmacy automation technologies to support medication distribution.
• Managing inventory, medication storage, and quality assurance processes.
• Supporting pharmacists by gathering critical patient information and assisting with medication workflows.
• Training and mentoring new team members.
• Contributing to process improvements that enhance patient safety and operational excellence.
