Job summary

Mercy Joplin is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Specialist I to support pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role expands into advanced sterile and non-sterile compounding, chemotherapy preparations, and uses EPIC and automation technology to optimize medication distribution.

The ideal candidate has 1 year of pharmacy experience, and holds or can obtain State Board registration and CPhT certification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Active registration with State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, or ability to obtain registration by first day of employment.
• At least 1 year of relevant pharmacy experience.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the PTCB, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Assisting with advanced sterile and non-sterile compounding, including hazardous medications and chemotherapy preparations.
• Utilizing EPIC and pharmacy automation technologies to support medication distribution.
• Managing inventory, medication storage, and quality assurance processes.
• Supporting pharmacists by gathering critical patient information and assisting with medication-related workflows.
• Training and mentoring new team members.
• Contributing to process improvements that enhance patient safety and operational excellence.
