Job summary

Medical City Heart & Spine Hospitals is seeking a Pharmacy Technician (PRN) to support operations across 7:00am–10:30pm shifts with rotating weekends. The role involves ADC operations, medication prep, aseptic technique, and ensuring compliance with USP standards.

Qualified candidates hold a Texas State Board Registration, NDC/PTCB/NHA certification, and IV certification. Hospital experience (1–3 years) and an associate degree or higher are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have National Certification (PTCB or NHA).
• Texas State Board Registration required (Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern).
• IV certification preferred.
• IV room experience a plus.
• 1–3 years hospital experience preferred.
• Associate's Degree or equivalent level of education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs).
• Documents monthly medication storage area inspections.
• Performs required calculations.
• Prepares and labels medications and parenteral admixtures.
• Uses aseptic techniques in parenteral compounding.
• Complies with USP 795, 797, 800 daily/monthly requirements (PPE, cleaning cabinets).
• Identifies issues, prioritizes workload and communicates with staff.
• Completes education requirements to maintain competency.
• Interacts with hospital personnel in person and by phone.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Adheres to Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement.

Job Summary and Qualifications

* This is a PRN position to help cover mixed shifts between 7:00am - 10:30pm with rotating weekends *

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately performing advanced and basic pharmacy technician functions in a timely manner. In addition, they are responsible for performing duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs), other specialized duties and/or leadership roles as assigned by the pharmacy management team.

What You Will Do In This Role

• Performs duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
• Accurately performs and documents monthly medication storage area inspections as assigned
• Accurately performs required calculations
• Accurately and safely compounds and labels medications and parenteral admixtures
• Always utilizes aseptic techniques in the preparation of parenteral compounding
• Compliant with all USP 795, 797, 800 daily/monthly requirements (i.e. Cleaning laminar airflow cabinets and biological safety cabinets, wearing personal protective equipment, etc.)
• Identifies critical issues, prioritize workload and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues in a timely manner
• Completes all education requirements and/or other activities needed to maintain competency
• Interacts in person and by phone with hospital personnel politely and appropriately
• Performs other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:
