Job summary

Medical City Dallas seeks a PRN Pharmacy Technician to support mixed shifts from 7:00am to 10:30pm with rotating weekends. The role covers ADC duties, calculations, aseptic compounding, and compliance with USP standards in a hospital environment.

National certification (PTCB/NHA) and Texas registration are required; IV certification and IV room experience are pluses. 1–3 years hospital experience preferred; associate degree or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications

• Texas State Board Registration required (Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern).
• IV certification preferred.
• IV room experience is a plus.
• 1–3 years of hospital experience preferred.
• Associate's Degree or equivalent level of education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs).
• Accurately performs and documents monthly medication storage area inspections.
• Performs required calculations and accurately labels medications and parenteral admixtures.
• Uses aseptic techniques in the preparation of parenteral products.
• Ensures compliance with USP 795, 797, 800 daily/monthly requirements.
• Identifies issues, prioritizes workload and communicates promptly.
• Completes education requirements to maintain competency.
• Interacts with hospital personnel in a courteous manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• This is a PRN position to help cover mixed shifts between 7:00am - 10:30pm with rotating weekends

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately performing advanced and basic pharmacy technician functions in a timely manner. In addition, they are responsible for performing duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs), other specialized duties and/or leadership roles as assigned by the pharmacy management team.

What You Will Do In This Role

• Performs duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
• Accurately performs and documents monthly medication storage area inspections as assigned
• Accurately performs required calculations
• Accurately and safely compounds and labels medications and parenteral admixtures
• Always utilizes aseptic techniques in the preparation of parenteral compounding
• Compliant with all USP 795, 797, 800 daily/monthly requirements (i.e. Cleaning laminar airflow cabinets and biological safety cabinets, wearing personal protective equipment, etc.)
• Identifies critical issues, prioritize workload and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues in a timely manner
• Completes all education requirements and/or other activities needed to maintain competency
• Interacts in person and by phone with hospital personnel politely and appropriately
• Performs other duties as assigned
