Job summary

Medical City Dallas seeks a Pharmacy Technician for the Night shift to support the hospital’s pharmacy operations, including automated dispensing cabinets, medication storage inspections, and accurate labeling of medications. The role emphasizes aseptic technique and compliance with USP standards in a busy clinical environment.

We require national certification and Texas registration, with IV certification preferred.

Qualifications

• National Certification (PTCB or NHA) required
• Texas State Board Registration required (Pharmacy Technician or intern)
• IV certification preferred
• IV room experience a plus
• 1-3 years hospital experience preferred
• Associate's Degree or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs duties with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
• Documents monthly medication storage area inspections
• Performs required calculations accurately
• Prepares and labels medications and parenteral admixtures
• Maintains aseptic technique in parenteral compounding
• Follows USP 795, 797, 800 daily requirements
• Identifies issues, prioritizes workload, and communicates promptly
• Completes education and competency activities
• Interacts with hospital personnel in person and by phone
• Performs other duties as assigned

Job Summary and Qualifications

This is a Full Time Night shift position. Hours will be 8:30pm - 7:00am with rotating weekends

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately performing advanced and basic pharmacy technician functions in a timely manner. In addition, they are responsible for performing duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs), other specialized duties and/or leadership roles as assigned by the pharmacy management team.

What You Will Do In This Role

• Performs duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
• Accurately performs and documents monthly medication storage area inspections as assigned
• Accurately performs required calculations
• Accurately and safely compounds and labels medications and parenteral admixtures
• Always utilizes aseptic techniques in the preparation of parenteral compounding
• Compliant with all USP 795, 797, 800 daily/monthly requirements (i.e. Cleaning laminar airflow cabinets and biological safety cabinets, wearing personal protective equipment, etc.)
• Identifies critical issues, prioritize workload and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues in a timely manner
• Completes all education requirements and/or other activities needed to maintain competency
• Interacts in person and by phone with hospital personnel politely and appropriately
• Performs other duties as assigned
