Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of formal technician training program preferred.
• Must be registered with Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.
• Six months of continuous experience in a pharmacy position with IV admixture experience.
• Ability to read, write, prepare and interpret written instructions and make calculations.
• Pass the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist in pre-packaging, labeling and dispensing medications.
• Compound sterile products under direct supervision of pharmacist.
• Refill, load, unload and troubleshoot basic problems for automated dispensing machines.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and free of out-of-date medications.
• Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously, assisting with non-clinical questions.
• Assist in any area of pharmacy where workload requires.
• Maintain pharmacy inventory levels and assist in ordering and restocking medications and supplies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all computer systems utilized in pharmacy.
• Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
• Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.
