Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Specialized/technical training required.
• Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician School.
• At least 1 year of experience in Pharmacy.
• Ability to perform dose calculations and aseptic/hazardous drug compounding per USP797/800.
• Strong organization/time management skills.
• Proficient verbal and written communication.
• Excellent customer service.
• CA DCA Pharmacy Technician registration required.
• Fire Life Safety Training; LA City requirements within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Works under direct supervision of the pharmacist at all times.
• Drug distribution and intravenous admixture responsibilities.
• Competency with Pyxis automated dispensing systems.
• Ensure medications are properly barcoded.
• Maintain CII Pyxis inventory (Keck only).
• Accurate and efficient preparation and dispensing with pharmacist verification.
• Chemotherapy preparation using Texium system.
• Generate revenues by calculating, recording and issuing charges.
• Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy per procedures and rules.
• Document pharmacy log sheets consistently.
• Complete monthly expiration medication assignments.
• Repackage/unit-dose medications using MILT4.
• Maintain aseptic technique.
• Use Cerner/PowerChart/Pyxis to triage workflow.
• Maintain inventory by restocking and rotating medications.
• Assist health care providers with timely calls.
• Prioritize responsibilities to maintain shift workflow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
