Job summary

The University of Southern California Keck Hospital in Glendale, CA is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, including IV admixtures, in a fast-paced clinical setting.

You will operate Pyxis systems, maintain accurate inventories, perform dose calculations with aseptic techniques, and communicate with care teams to ensure safe, timely medication delivery and patient care, under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician school.
• At least 1 year of experience in a pharmacy setting.
• CA DCA registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days if required.

Responsibilities

• Works under direct supervision of the pharmacist; drug distribution and IV admixture.
• Competent with Pyxis automated dispensing systems and barcode checks.
• Maintain CII Pyxis inventory (Keck only) and ensure accuracy.
• Prepare and dispense medications with pharmacist verification.
• Certify chemotherapy preparation using Texium system.
• Generate charges; handle OR billing.
• Maintain a safe, clean pharmacy and document logs.
• Complete monthly expiration medication assignments.
• Repackaging/unit-dosing with MILT4; aseptic technique.
• Use Cerner/PowerChart/Pyxis to triage workflow.
• Maintain inventory and assist in restocking.
• Assist healthcare providers with timely calls and questions.
• Prioritize duties to maintain shift workflow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
