Job summary

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH, is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for the Burnet Campus. The role is full-time, night shift 10PM–8AM, 35 hours weekly with 0.875 FTE.

Pay includes $21.50–$24.62 per hour plus $2.00/hour shift and $1.00/hour weekend differentials and requires Ohio licensure. Responsibilities include preparing and dispensing medications, supporting patient-specific dosing, stocking ADCs, compounding sterile and non-sterile products, and collaborating

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active OH Board of Pharmacy registration.
  • PTCB certification and OH Board certification within 18 months of hire.
  • ExCPT acceptable certification.
  • ASHP accredited program graduate OR licensed as Pharmacy Intern OR 6 months of pharmacy related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Medication orders: unit dose prep for cartfill and first doses; non-sterile prep.
  • Compounding: non-sterile, non-hazardous meds.
  • Phone triage for outpatient pharmacy.
  • Insurance adjudication and medical claims.
  • Inventory management and ADC replenishment.

Must be available to train on Days & Evenings for approx. 6-8 weeks before moving to Nights.

What you'll do (what your day really looks like)
  • Prepare and distribute medications accurately and efficiently
  • Support medication delivery for patient-specific doses across units
  • Replenish automated dispensing cabinets and maintain inventory
  • Compound sterile and non-sterile medications
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and care teams to ensure quality and safety

This is hands-on, detail-driven work where accuracy, teamwork, and urgency matter.

How to qualify for this job:
  • Have at least 6 months of pharmacy technician experience
  • Be licensed as a pharmacy technician in the State of Ohio
  • Pharmacy technician certification (or ability to obtain within 18 months)
  • High school diploma or equivalent

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Medication Orders - Performs unit dose preparation for cartfill and first doses. Non-sterile, non-hazard dose preparation for first fill or cartfill including preparation of oral syringes from liquid dosage forms. Delivery of patient specific doses. Prepare and perform ADC replenishment.
  • Compounding - Compounds non-sterile, non-hazardous medications.
  • Phone Triage - Performs outpatient pharmacy phone triage.
  • Medical Claims - Performs insurance adjudication.
  • Inventory Management - Performs medication storage inspections. Interact with pharmacy automated dispensing machines and hospital computer systems as necessary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active registration with the OH Board of Pharmacy
  • Must be PTCB certified and OH Board of Pharmacy certified within 18 months of hire.
  • ExCPT is acceptable certification to meet minimum requirements
  • ASHP accredited program graduate OR licensed as a Pharmacy Intern OR 6 months of pharmacy related experience
