Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III for Hazardous Compounding in Ambulatory Oncology and Infusion Services. The role is full-time with rotating shifts, including morning start times and occasional weekend coverage.

Primary duties involve complex compounding, sterile products, and medication distribution in Galter 17 & Lavin 21 locations. The technician will work under a pharmacist, perform hazardous drug handling, and participate in safety and quality processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required for all licensed after 2008.
• NM approved training in compounded sterile preparations within 180 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders for inpatients and outpatients.
• Prepares prescriptions for outpatients.
• Picks up orders and delivers medications to nursing units.
• Schedules intravenous admixture solutions per patient record and reports variances.
• Uses the computerized patient medication profile to enter orders and renewals.
• Compounds dosage forms for dispensing to patients.
• Maintains inventory and prepares sterile products for administration.
• Performs hazardous medication handling and desensitization procedures.
