Job summary

Duke University is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II for Duke Specialty Pharmacy at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. This on-site role supports prescription processing, medication preparation, and distribution to patients.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with an accredited tech program, or enrollment in pharmacy school, and board certification is preferred. Relocation and a $2,500 commitment bonus may be available. Weekend coverage is possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program.
• Acceptance into pharmacy school.
• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care related experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow workflow procedures including prescription processing, medication preparation and distribution to patient.
• Restock automatic dispensing cabinets and anesthesia workstations as needed.
• Answer and screen telephone calls and direct calls to appropriate personnel when needed.
• Handle medications in accordance to department, regulatory and legal requirements.
• Collaborates with pharmacy team, insurance companies and customers to resolve issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Assist with a variety of basic clinical functions in support of the clinical pharmacist.
• Operate and troubleshoot specialty machinery and pharmacy systems.
• Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas.
• Prepare IV solutions using aseptic technique and/or compound non-sterile medications.
• Train new employees and students in job-specific functions.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program
