Health First is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II in Florida to provide advanced pharmacy services including sterile compounding, medication history support, and ADC system oversight.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months pharmacy technician experience.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician license in the State of Florida.
  • Sterile compounding competency with advanced coursework.
  • Able to work long and irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares sterile and non-sterile compounded medications per USP standards.
  • Allocates patient drug history information during admission and assists with reconciliation.
  • Maintains ADC systems, tracking issues and supporting diversion controls.
  • Provides education to pharmacy associates and supports training for trainees.
  • Performs inventory management with cycle counts, expiration tracking, and stock rotation.
  • Collaborates with pharmacy and clinical staff to ensure safe, high-quality workflows.
  • Coaches and trains new associates in pharmacy functions as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician will continuously supporting the learning and development of Pharmacy Technician Trainees and Pharmacy Technicians Is, ensuring full training and coaching is delivered to support technician growth.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician II effectively delivers advanced expertise in pharmacy services such as, sterile compounding (IVs), Medication History support, and overseeing Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) system (e.g., Pyxis). The Pharmacy Technician will continuously supporting the learning and development of Pharmacy Technician Trainees and Pharmacy Technicians Is, ensuring full training and coaching is delivered to support technician growth.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Prepares sterile and non-sterile compounded medications in accordance with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards.
  • Allocates patient drug history information during admission, assisting with reconciliation of medications.
  • Maintains ADC systems, by tracking and monitoring any issues or discrepancies, while supporting diversion controls.
  • Provides education to pharmacy Associates, supporting cross-functional training for continued growth and development as needed.
  • Performs inventory management responsibilities by conducting regular cycle counts, monitoring and documenting drug expiration dates, and implementing stock rotation procedures. Ensures appropriate inventory levels are maintained to prevent medication shortages and supports accurate distribution for purchasing needs.
  • Collaborates with Pharmacy and clinical staff in ensuring a safe, high-quality environment, while occasionally supporting initiatives for the continuous improvement of workflows.
  • Partners and supports pharmacy leadership with coaching and training new Associates in pharmacy functions as needed to support operations.
  • Verifies adherence to departmental and organizational policies and procedures, as well as established pharmacy workflows and safety protocols, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements from State of Florida and Federal agencies; such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience: Six (6) months work experience in a pharmacy technician role.
  • Licensure: Registered Pharmacy Technician licensure in the State of Florida.
  • Certification: None
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Must have competency in and be able to perform sterile compounding, etc. by completion of necessary advanced courses and demonstrated proficiency in pharmacy workflows.
  • Availability to work long and irregular hours; includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Teams, Outlook, Word.
  • Computer skills to support distribution systems.
  • Ability to work independently, while ensuring accuracy in all work functions performed.
  • Demonstrates patience, positive attitude, cooperation, critical-thinking skills, and analytical skills.
  • Must be organized and maintain good communications skills.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks at one time, while demonstrating good listening, and good social skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work Experience: Two (2) years' experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
Physical Requirements
  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
  • May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
