Job summary

AtlantiCare is seeking a Pharmacy Technician-Level 2 for per diem shifts in New Jersey. The technician assists the Pharmacist with medication acquisition, storage, and dispensing, including involvement with IVs and patient interactions in both hospital and outpatient settings.

The role includes preparing orders and delivering medications to nursing units, screening prescriptions, and performing clerical duties.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensure: NJ Board of Pharmacy registration within 6 months; National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
  • Experience: 1 year pharmacy experience preferred; good math and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Pharmacist with routine duties related to acquisition, storage and dispensing of medications.
  • Prepare medication orders and deliver medications to nursing units.
  • Screen prescriptions, assist with outpatient/pharmacy clerical tasks and cashier functions.
  • Under supervision, prepare I.V., piggybacks and TPNs where applicable.

Pharmacy Tech II - Per Diem
Job Description

Hospital: The Pharmacy Technician-Level 2 assists the Pharmacist with technical and non-technical routine duties related to the acquisition, storage and dispensing of medications, chemicals, and related supplies. The Pharmacy Technician-Level 2 prepares medication orders, automated dispensing machines, delivers medications to the nursing units, and fills medication carts and other equipment. The Technician also performs routine clerical duties in support of operations. Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Technician may prepare I.V., piggybacks and TPNs according to established policies and procedures. This position supports organizational goals and values by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work, respect and cooperation.

Outpatient: The Pharmacy Technician-Level 2 assists the Pharmacist with technical and non-technical routine duties related to the acquisition, storage and dispensing of medications, chemicals, and related supplies. The Pharmacy Technician-Level 2 screens prescriptions, interacts with patients and customers, performs prescription profile services, and prepares prescriptions to be dispensed. The Technician also performs routine clerical duties, and cashier functions in support of operations. Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Technician may perform other dispensing duties according to established policies and procedures. This position supports organizational goals and values by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work, respect and cooperation.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards of the hospital environment, such as exposure to infectious disease, hazardous waste, and potential injury.

Requires the ability to stand and walk 90% of the time. Requires the ability to reach, and lift up to 30 to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Registration with the NJ Board of Pharmacy-Required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer; National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.

EXPERIENCE: 1 year pharmacy experience preferred. Good math skills required; good customer service skills also required.
