The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a GS-13 Inpatient Pharmacy Supervisor to lead the Inpatient Section of Pharmacy Service. This role involves supervising clinical pharmacists, managing operations, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Candidates must possess a pharmacy degree, relevant experience, and strong supervisory skills. The position offers a full-time schedule with potential for ad-hoc telework.
The primary responsibility is providing supervision, professional and administrative leadership and guidance to the Inpatient Section of Pharmacy Service at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System (VHACIHS). The position reports to the Associate Chief - Operations, Pharmacy Service.

Functions: (In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed below, the incumbent must also be able to perform all staff pharmacist duties.)
Responsibilities include planning, directing, and coordinating pharmacy services, optimizing workflows, integrating performance improvement activities, and working with procurement and cost management teams.
Includes verifying orders, screening for issues, providing drug therapy consultations, resolving problems, monitoring patients, and participating in PI activities.
Full-time; Monday-Friday, 0730-1600
Ad-hoc telework; not virtual; no relocation incentives; no PCS authorized.
All requirements must be met by 05/28/2025. Includes U.S. citizenship, pharmacy degree from an accredited institution, licensure, and English proficiency.
Experience: 1 year at the GS-12 level, demonstrating knowledge of pharmacy practice, communication skills, regulatory compliance, and ability to assess drug therapy outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Supervisory ability, persuasive communication, regulatory expertise, program management.
Preferred: 1+ year supervisory experience in hospital pharmacy, 3+ years clinical practice.
