Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Outpatient Coding Lead, you will serve as the daily contact for coding, DRG/code validation, and operational questions from coding staff and other departments. You will support coding leadership by coordinating coding and education activities within the HSC, ensuring accurate coding and DRG validation for proper reimbursement, data integrity, and consistent practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and perform HSC coding quality reviews for inpatient and outpatient coding.
• Provide feedback and education on coding opportunities.
• Ensure timely entry of rebill requests and answer coding questions.
• Assist with process improvements and staff training.
• Verify accounts for accuracy, cash flow, and deadlines using various tools.
• Coordinate education and training activities for team members.
• Report on team performance and training needs.
• Coach and support team problem-solving.
• Verify and report staff productivity.

Qualifications:

• Management and supervisory experience in healthcare preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of acute care outpatient coding experience.
• Minimum 3 years of coding auditing experience.
• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification required or in process.
• Associate's degree or higher in HIM/HIT preferred.
