We are recruiting a Pharmacy Production Technician I to join our team of health care professionals. The Pharmacy Production Technician I is responsible for dispensing, packing, and shipping medication orders as scheduled and in accordance with established procedures. The Pharmacy Production Technician I assists with maintaining dispensing and shipping supplies, medication inventory, and performs assigned tasks for continued adherence to compliance and regulatory standards.

Job type: Full-time

Pay range: $22.43 - $28.05 hourly, depending on experience.

Essential functions and activities
  1. Responsible for all dispensing, packing, and shipping duties.
  2. Prints patient specific medication labels and related patient drug information sheets.
  3. Accurately picks, labels, and dispenses medication, administration supplies, and required materials for pharmacist review and quality assurance verification.
  4. Prepares packages for shipment with designated packing materials in accordance with established standards to preserve medication integrity.
  5. Shipping includes sending prepared medication orders verified by a pharmacist to the patient/provider while appropriately utilizing drug manufacturer storage and accreditation standard guidelines.
  6. Communicates end of day pick-ups with Operations staff.
  7. Correctly stages medication orders at all times, according to ship date and medication-specific storage and handling requirements.
  8. When handling drugs designated as “hazardous,” adheres to established proper handling techniques.
  9. Assists with company inventory processes as directed.
  10. Ensures adherence to accreditation standards/objectives.
  11. Assists with daily and weekly cleaning of pharmacy workspace and equipment.
  12. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  13. Conducts daily temperature monitoring.
  14. Replenishes gel packs, coolers, and other shipping supplies into appropriate storage area(s).
  15. Ensures entry of needed data points for reporting purposes.
  16. Assists elsewhere in the pharmacy, when possible.
  17. Maintains active Oregon license. Informs supervisor within 1 business day (and Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 10 days) of any arrests, convictions, suspected or known violations of law, or any other conduct that might affect or has affected license status.
  18. Actively participates and provides support as needed to leadership and quality program staff to ensure activities related to the company’s quality management program and quality improvement activities maintain priority focus and are effectively executed.
  19. Complies with the company’s Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all department policies and procedures.
  20. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position specifications
Education and experience
  • Required:
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Active Oregon Pharmacy Technician License or Certified Oregon Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in pharmacy practice or healthcare setting preferred.
Physical and mental functions and activities
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to express oneself, detect, perceive, observe, and assess information exchanged in a variety of communication methods.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computer applications.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a pharmacy environment, with extensive keyboard and computer work.
  • Business needs may occasionally require work in excess of 40 hours per week, including work outside of the standard work week.
Contract with others
  • Internally with Ardon employees across multiple departments.
  • Externally with clients and vendors.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in standard workplace software and/or information management applications.
  • Prior experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
  • Ability to navigate computer applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy benefit investigation, prior authorization support, and patient financial assistance connection.
  • Prior experience working with physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals.
