Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking an Operations Pharmacy Technician II to assist in drug distribution under pharmacist supervision at our Morgantown facility. You will prepare unit-dose medications, read prescriptions, and support inventory and training activities.

The role includes communicating with patients/caregivers to arrange delivery or pickup, preparing non-intravenous meds, and ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or Equivalent.
• Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided:
• WV: Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician License through West Virginia Board of Pharmacy
• OH/PA/MD/Maryland Board licensure as applicable
• Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician through PTCB or NHA OR two years of pharmacy experience within 15 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Prepare unit-dose medications, deliver medications, and manage drug supplies.
• Read prescriptions and prepare medications for dispensing, including pediatric and geriatric formulations.
• Understand standard pharmaceutical terms and symbols used in prescribing/dispensing.
• Communicate with patients or caregivers to determine medication needs and delivery scheduling.
• Prepare and deliver controlled substances with proper records.
• Take inventory and replace outdated medications; replenish supplies.
• Prepare non-intravenous medications and parenteral products; label appropriately.
• Perform dosage calculations for medications and solutions.
• Prepare and label prepackaged medications and maintain related records.
• Maintain inventory in pharmacy service areas and answer calls to route to the appropriate person.
