Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist. Supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers within legal and company guidelines.
- Lead the selection, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Make decisions regarding disciplinary actions and termination.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them, assisting with products and services, resolving complaints, and responding to requests promptly to ensure a positive experience. Share customer service best practices.
- Build strong relationships by anticipating needs and proactively offering healthcare services, enhancing the overall customer experience.
Operations
- Assist pharmacists in delivering patient care, including registration, data entry, medication preparation, and verification where legally permitted. Handle patient and physician calls and support healthcare services like vaccinations and health screenings under pharmacist supervision.
- Exercise independent judgment within legal and company guidelines to delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work, ensuring timely completion and accountability.
- Prepare and file reports required by the company and government agencies. Manage pharmacy workflow, organize daily activities, and recommend scheduling adjustments.
- Ensure compliance, maintain records, and manage inventory as directed by the pharmacist. Conduct annual inventory preparations.
- Complete non-clinical patient calls, drive technology and process improvements, and ensure proper operation of pharmacy equipment. Maintain security and recordkeeping in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager.
- Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies during prescription activities and support asset protection measures, reporting concerns related to diversion or security breaches.
- Process insurance claims accurately, resolve customer issues, and participate in third-party audits. Support financial and operational improvements.
- Coordinate community outreach activities, including off-site immunization clinics and community events, building retail partnerships.
People & Performance Management
- Lead technician performance management, including disciplinary actions and compliance with laws. Manage hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
- Identify training gaps and support team development through hands-on training or learning modules. Ensure all licensures and certifications are active and compliant.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintain PTCB or equivalent certification and stay current with pharmacy and healthcare knowledge. Obtain required certifications and participate in performance improvement plans.
- Pursue professional development through self-monitoring, feedback, and mentorship.
Communication
- Maintain effective communication with the pharmacy team and participate in store and pharmacy meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital settings.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
