Pharmacy Technician Job Description

The pharmacy technician is responsible for supporting pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient workflow, and delivering a positive patient experience. This role involves performing non-clinical duties, supervising staff, and assisting pharmacists in various tasks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations: Assist pharmacists with patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, and healthcare services such as vaccinations and health screenings. Manage pharmacy workflow, ensure compliance with laws and policies, and oversee inventory management.
2. Customer Experience: Engage with customers, resolve complaints, and foster strong relationships to enhance the overall experience. Proactively offer healthcare services to meet customer needs.
3. People & Performance Management: Lead performance management of pharmacy technicians, including hiring, training, scheduling, and disciplinary actions. Ensure team compliance with licensing and legal requirements.
4. Training & Development: Maintain relevant certifications, pursue ongoing education, and seek professional growth opportunities.
5. Communication: Maintain effective communication within the team and participate in meetings to align on goals and updates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico)
• At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital setting
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
