Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist under pharmacist supervision. Supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers within legal and company guidelines.
- Lead the selection, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians, including making disciplinary decisions.
Customer Experience
- Greet customers and patients, assist with products and services, resolve complaints, and respond to requests to ensure a positive experience. Share customer service best practices.
- Build strong relationships by anticipating needs and proactively offering healthcare-related services to enhance the customer experience.
Operations
- Assist pharmacists with patient care activities such as registration, prescription entry, medication preparation, and verification. Support healthcare services like vaccinations and screenings under supervision.
- Delegate non-clinical tasks, ensure timely completion, and hold team accountable. Prepare reports and records as directed.
- Manage pharmacy workflow, organize daily activities, and maintain cleanliness and stock levels. Ensure compliance with laws and policies, including inventory management and recordkeeping.
- Drive technology and process improvements, maintain equipment, and ensure security measures are in place. Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies and support asset protection efforts.
- Handle prescription errors, insurance claims, and customer issues efficiently. Support pharmacy financial and operational improvements.
- Coordinate community outreach and build retail partnerships.
People & Performance Management
- Lead technician performance management, including discipline and termination decisions, and ensure compliance with laws. Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling.
- Identify training gaps, support team development, and ensure licensure and certification compliance.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintain PTCB or state certification, and pursue ongoing professional development and training as required.
- Seek feedback, monitor performance, and leverage mentorship opportunities.
Communication
- Maintain effective communication within the pharmacy team and participate in meetings and check-ins.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital settings.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking) unless in Puerto Rico.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
