Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities; ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers under pharmacist supervision, within legal and company guidelines.
- Lead hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Make decisions on performance issues, including discipline and termination.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers and patients, resolve complaints, and respond to requests to ensure a positive experience. Share customer service best practices.
- Build strong relationships by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, focusing on healthcare services to enhance customer experience.
Operations
- Assist pharmacists with patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, and verification. Support healthcare services like vaccinations and health screenings, where legally permitted.
- Delegate and assign work within legal and company guidelines, ensuring timely completion and accountability.
- Prepare reports, manage pharmacy workflow, and organize daily activities. Ensure cleanliness, stock, and compliance with inventory and administrative tasks.
- Oversee pharmacy equipment, security, and recordkeeping. Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies and report any concerns regarding diversion or errors.
- Process insurance claims accurately, resolve issues, and participate in audits. Support financial and operational improvements, and coordinate community outreach activities.
People & Performance Management
- Manage technician performance, discipline, and compliance with regulations. Handle hiring, onboarding, and scheduling. Support ongoing training and licensure compliance.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintain PTCB certification, pursue ongoing education, and seek professional development opportunities.
Communication
- Communicate effectively with the pharmacy team, participate in meetings, and relay key information.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Previous leadership experience and familiarity with Walgreens is preferred.
