Job summary

Walgreens in the United States is seeking a full-time, on-site Pharmacy Technician to support day-to-day non-clinical operations, patient registration, prescription data entry, and medication preparation under pharmacist supervision.

You will assist with vaccines, health screenings, and non-clinical workflow, while leading technician training, scheduling, and performance management under established policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• PTCB certification (except in Puerto Rico).
• One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
• Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations)

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist in patient care including registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications for patients, counting, and verifying (where allowed by law).
• Respond to patient and physician calls under the supervision of a pharmacist (where allowed by law).
• Assist with healthcare service offerings including administering vaccines, health screenings, and other health services allowed by law.
• Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy under company policies and laws, ensuring on-time task completion.
• Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies under direction of the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist.
• Manage core pharmacy workflow and daily schedule of activities, allocate hours, and maintain stocked conditions.
• Ensure compliance and security of pharmacy operations and recordkeeping in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager.
• Maintain and apply knowledge of asset protection; monitor diversion and report concerns.
• Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and follow company policies on QA.
• Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and follow up with insurers and providers.
• Assist and support Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing pharmacy financials and customer service improvements.
• Coordinate immunization clinics and community events as directed by Pharmacy Manager and build retail partnerships.
