Job summary

Southend Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Onboarding Specialist to coordinate comprehensive onboarding for new staff. You will ensure department orientation, system access, and performance expectations are met; collaborate with Pharmacy Verification, Data Entry, Fulfillment, Shipping, Procurement, Customer Service, and Clinical Operations.

The role emphasizes training, documentation, and consistent onboarding across shifts, with a focus on accuracy, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years in pharmacy operations, healthcare, employee training, or onboarding within a regulated environment.
• Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
• Sterile IV Compounding Certification, with documented training in aseptic techniques and USP <797> standards.
• Minimum 1 year experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to assign training and track progress.
• Minimum 2 years of experience using pharmacy management software and electronic workflow systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate onboarding process for new employees from day one to department placement.
• Provide onboarding overview of operations, culture, expectations, policies, and standards.
• Review attendance, punctuality, professionalism, and workplace conduct.
• Ensure new hires understand organizational structure and contact points.
• Maintain onboarding schedules across departments, shifts, and groups.
• Coordinate training content with department managers to reflect current workflows.
• Train employees on department-specific processes, systems, and workflow expectations.
• Demonstrate tasks and supervise initial production to ensure accuracy and safety.
• Maintain training records and competency assessments for each employee.
• Escalate issues promptly to leadership and maintain standardized onboarding checklists.
