The role requires managing daily operations, leading pharmacists and technicians, and serving as the primary liaison to clinical leadership. It combines hands-on sterile compounding with strategic operational oversight for a growing national footprint.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

We are currently partnering with a newly launching sterile compounding pharmacy in the Atlanta area seeking an experienced Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Manager to lead operations at its first location.

The organization plans to expand nationally over the next year, with its initial facility establishing the operational standards for future sites. The Pharmacy Manager will oversee daily operations, lead a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, and serve as the primary connection to clinical leadership.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Compounding Pharmacist, Pharmacy Manager, or Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to help establish a new specialty compounding operation. Unlike traditional retail pharmacy or large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing, the position combines hands-on sterile compounding with operational leadership.

Job Responsibilities

• Pharmacy Operations: Manage daily operations, including staffing, scheduling, workflow coordination, and training of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
• Sterile Compounding: Oversee sterile compounding activities in compliance with USP 797, USP 800, and applicable pharmacy regulations.
• Quality & Compliance: Maintain quality standards, regulatory documentation, and inspection readiness to ensure compliant pharmacy operations.
• Prescription Verification: Verify prescriptions, review and release compounded preparations, and provide hands-on cleanroom support as needed.
• Pharmacy Startup: Support Georgia Board of Pharmacy licensing, opening inspections, and operational readiness for the new facility.
• Clinical Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact with clinical leadership, aligning pharmacy operations with clinical requirements.
• Process Development: Establish pharmacy workflows and operational practices that can be replicated across future locations.

Job Requirements

• Education & Licensure: PharmD or BS Pharm with an active Georgia pharmacist license or eligibility to obtain one within a defined timeframe.
• Pharmacy Leadership: Experience managing a compounding pharmacy or sterile compounding suite, including oversight of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
• Sterile Compounding: Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on sterile compounding experience within a pharmacy environment.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of USP 795, USP 797, USP 800, and applicable Georgia Board of Pharmacy requirements.
