Job summary

Central Valley Specialty Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Buyer to oversee daily pharmacy operations within established policy. The role does not provide direct patient care but ensures accurate inventory control and budget compliance.

The technician will purchase supplies, manage inventory, monitor shortages, and work with vendors to optimize costs while maintaining regulatory compliance under the State Board of Pharmacy guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent and a California Pharmacy Technician licence.
• Must communicate effectively and handle confidential information with accuracy.
• Must adhere to State Board of Pharmacy guidelines for supportive personnel.

Responsibilities

• Managing pharmacy inventory and independently approving purchasing orders based on pharmacy budget.
• Answering phone calls from pharmacy staff regarding inventory and budgeting questions.
• Following current inventory procedures and implementing new cost-saving measures.
• Monitor, communicate and manage medication shortages.
• Maintain and implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Review missed opportunities weekly.
• Complete returns to vendors and other facilities.
• Assist in inventory preparation.
• Filling and labeling prescription bottles.
• Compounding specialty medications.
• Perform pharmacy calculations with accuracy.
• Answering calls from customers, physicians, and vendors.
• Facilitate ordering through multiple vendors.
• Provide good customer service with compassion and efficiency.
