Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Pharmacy Intern in Los Angeles who will assist the pharmacist to provide safe, accurate prescription filling, patient counseling, and prompt service. You will learn product knowledge and support immunization services while upholding the company’s customer-first values.

This internship requires active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy and a current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license; you will work under pharmacist supervision in a fast-paced retail

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in a US school of pharmacy.
• Hold a current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.

Responsibilities

• Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards.

• Create a welcoming environment by answering questions about products within the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products and discuss them with customers and prescribers.
• Provide drug counseling and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
• Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
• Dispense correct medication and contact prescribers’ offices for authorization.
• Bag filled prescriptions and deliver them accurately to customers.
• Process third-party insurance information and contact insurance companies if necessary.
• Facilitate charge purchases for customers.
• Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions accurately for fill/refill.
• Clean the department and provide immunizations under pharmacist supervision.
• Compare and check incoming orders, stock properly, and return unused medication stock bottles.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report prescription incidents to the pharmacist.
• Report all safety risks, illegal activity including robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Education
