Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support customer service functions, process prescriptions, and assist with inventory and third-party billing in a retail pharmacy setting.

You will interact with patients, help with product selection, and ensure accurate dispensing under pharmacist supervision. Qualifications include enrollment in an accredited pharmacy program and a state license, with strong communication, organization, and attention to confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school.
• Pharmacy Intern License (state specific).
• Positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
• Neat and legible handwriting; good organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work as part of a team.
• Punctuality and dependability; strong customer service focus.
• Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA considerations.
• Understanding of patient care services at Meijer Pharmacy; MTM platforms familiarity.
• Knowledge of brand/generic names; pharmacology terminology; dosage forms; calculations.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist patients in person and by phone.
• Process and fill prescriptions; interact with patients regarding medication pricing.
• Use pharmacy computer system for data entry and third-party adjudication; stock and label prescriptions.
• Assist with third-party functions and inventory management; update balance on hand and arrange orders.
• Perform health screening tests and immunizations after training and authorization; participate in MTM activities when applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional appearance and behavior.
