Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting. This part-time role with rotating shifts supports pharmacists with medication preparation, dispensing, sterile compounding, inventory management, and use of automated pharmacy technology.

You must be enrolled in an accredited PharmD program and hold or be eligible for Ohio Pharmacy Intern licensure.

Qualifications

• Enrolled and in good standing in an accredited PharmD program.
• Current licensure as a Pharmacy Intern with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy or eligible to obtain one prior to employment.
• Hospital pharmacy internship experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to follow procedures and accept increasing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, record keeping, counseling, and delivery of medications using proper aseptic technique and documentation.
• Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile products, including chemotherapy.
• Compounds medications by using proper technique and calculations.
• Assists the pharmacist in filling orders/prescriptions.
• Prepares sterile products; labels medications and maintains records as required.
• Provides drug information to patients and health care professionals.
• Prepares and restocks drugs for automated dispensing cabinets.
• Performs clinical duties under supervision, including medication reconciliation, and patient rounds with physicians.
• Assists in inventory management and non-formulary requests.
