Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in dispensing prescriptions and maintaining accurate medication records at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest. You will work with pharmacy systems, assist with labeling, stocking, and order fulfillment in a fast-paced setting.

Primary responsibilities include inventory control, preparing medications under supervision, and helping with orientation and training of new staff while ensuring regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and active enrollment in a pre-pharmacy or a pharmacy degree program.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good math skills needed for counting, measuring and weighing medications.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription orders.
• Adheres to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Fills medication orders accurately and efficiently.
• Assures all medications are properly labeled, checked by a pharmacist, and dispensed in a timely manner.
• Prioritizes workload, maintains organization, and coordinates activities with other team members.
• Monitors medication expiration dates and ensures no expired medications are in circulation.
• Complies with all record keeping related to controlled substances and maintains all inventories.
• Communicates all drug information requests to a pharmacist.
• Demonstrates and maintains competency with pharmacy equipment and duties.
• Answers the phone and attends to customer needs in a timely manner.
• Assists with orientation and training of new pharmacy colleagues.
• Maintains adequate inventory of prescription and/or over the counter products in the designated areas.
