Job summary

TBH in New York is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to join the hospital Pharmacy team under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. You will assist with dispensing medications, formulate oral liquids, and help with sterile compounding, while supporting inventory and nursing station inspections.

You will also participate in performance improvement projects, medication use evaluations, and Joint Commission accreditation activities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ACPE program or graduate of an accredited pharmacy program.
• Minimum of one year of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of brand and generic medication names.
• Knowledge of pharmacotherapy.
• Knowledge of medication dosage calculations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support pharmacists in medication dispensing.
• Perform oral liquid formulation compounding.

Job Description

As an integral part of the Pharmacy team, the Pharmacy Intern assists and supports pharmacists in providing quality pharmaceutical services. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Intern is responsible for medication dispensing, oral liquid formulation compounding, sterile product compounding, inventory management, nursing station inspections, performance improvement projects, medication use evaluations, and Joint Commission accreditation related activities.

Job Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) program or a graduate of an accredited pharmacy program
• Minimum of one (1) year experience at a hospital pharmacy is preferred.
• Knowledge of brand and generic medication names
• Knowledge of pharmacotherapy
• Knowledge of medication dosage calculations
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good time management skills
