Qualifications

• Experience with phones, filing, faxing, scanning and data entry is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Answers the phone and handles inquiries or transfers calls to staff.
• Enters patient data, billing info, insurance, allergies, doctors and diagnoses in the system.
• Delivers prescriptions and collects payment and signatures from patients.
• Coordinates prescription counseling with the Pharmacist as needed.
• Maintains stock levels and places orders for restocking when inventory is low.
• Verifies orders and applies labeling and shelf placement.
• Checks drug expiration dates and manages returns or discard of unpicked prescriptions.
• Performs duties aligned with quality and safety standards.

Join our team as a Relief Pharmacy Cashier at Lancaster Family Health Center in Salem, OR!

Pharmacy Cashiers play a vital role in supporting patient access to medications and pharmacy services at YVFWC. This role provides essential clerical, customer service, and medication support functions to help ensure patients receive accurate, timely, and safe pharmacy services. This position helps ensure smooth pharmacy operations and a positive patient experience.

Position Highlights:

• $18.62-$22.81/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates
• Additional pay for your bilingual skills, paid on hours worked

What You’ll Do:

• Answers the phone, answers non-professional level inquiries and transfers calls to appropriate staff
• Enters patient data and billing information in the system including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor and diagnosis
• Delivers prescription to the patient verifying correct medication is provided. Collects payment and signature from the patient
• Coordinates prescription counseling by the Pharmacist as needed
• Maintains awareness of stock level and enters order for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verifies quantity and submits order to the Wholesaler
• Verifies product orders received with invoice and purchase order. Places a sticker on each item and places it on the shelf
• Monitors and checks expiration dates on drugs in stock
• Returns or discards dispensed prescription to stock if not picked up by patient. Enters information in the system for reverse billing as allowed by state regulations
• Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• This job will require a pre-employment drug screen which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills required at a level 9
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning and copying
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment
• Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacy workflows
• Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems including Microsoft Office preferred
• Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system preferred
